Elite Molding Dentil Cornices are all hand
made. Unlike the other patterned moldings, Dentil “teeth” do not lend
themselves to being molded onto a base Cornice. The definition and sharpness
of the tooth is lost in the process. After looking around for a solution we
came to the conclusion that in order to produce the product, we would have
to do it by hand.
We start with a simple plain cornice; in
this case, the SM – 7 - ST, small “teeth” are cut and applied one by one to
the plain molding. After drying, the molding is off to the paint booth where
it receives its second coat of Primer. The extra labor makes it the most
expensive molding we offer, however it is still a cheaper alternative to
Plaster or other such products on a per foot price. You may have to wait a
few extra days for your order to be processed if you order a large quantity.

The Dentil is a perfect molding
for a Library, Study or even a kitchen. It is said to be a masculine
molding, with its rigid lines and sharp points, it will make a bold
statement in any room. The Dentil molding is available in 5”, 7” or even a
9” profile. You have the option of ordering it with or without a Rope
Pattern. We recommend that you calculate a generous amount for waste, in
order to match the teeth on the corners; you will probably need 5% more that
you would when installing other simpler moldings. For painting Dentil we
recommend using a round brush (like an old shaving cream brush) to dab the
paint on to the inner corners. |
